"Alien? No, there's no such thing. There's only life."
the Doctor, as written by Kim Newman
"She came to me as I lay wounded and fallen. All my plans and hopes laid low by one inescapable act. She looked down on me, a creature of infinite compassion and unwanted mercy. And she stopped my heart. But then she started it again. She picked me up from the ashes I'd left and gave me a clean slate, another chance."
Fallen Gods, by Kate Orman and Jonathan Blum
Favourite TV: "Doctor Who," "Bones" and "House" are what I currently follow. I like "15/Love" a lot but I'm not sure if there'll be another season. I'm also very fond of the first two seasons of "Sliders," most of "Alias" and I really want DVDs of "Early Edition."
Movies: Movies that I enjoy watching more than once and bought on DVD: "MirrorMask" for its dreaminess and it's beautifully realized lead protagonist, "Before Sunrise" & "Before Sunset," the romantic duology that taught me how to talk to girls, "Dear Frankie" for being a beautiful father/son story, "Millions" because it deftly takes on children, money, religion and the art of parenting, "Castle In The Sky" and "Kiki's Delivery Service" for being lovingly animated and tremendously charming -- and I suppose right now my favourite movie is "I Capture The Castle," which is sweetly written and directed and has Romola Garai, whom I love.
Books: I'm currently twelve-stepping for my crush on J.K. Rowling. I think Neil Gaiman writes fantastic comic book and film scripts, and that he has possibly the most boring prose this side of James Hutton. I love Douglas Adams for his cheerfully cynical view of the world. Jasper Fforde is charming and funny but a bit drawn out. I really like Nicholas Hornby and Gregory Maguire for their neat, witty phrasing and crisp descriptions.
Fears: I am scared of mice and papercuts.
My favourite LJ-friend is

My favourite person in the world is probably Naomi Klein.
